Paul Merson picks his PFA Fans' November Player of the Month
Friday 4 December 2015 13:37, UK
Sky Sports football pundit Paul Merson has given us his thoughts on the race for the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for November.
The Premier League field has been narrowed down to three candidates - Manchester United's Chris Smalling, Arsenal's Mesut Ozil and Leicester's Jamie Vardy.
There is still time for you to cast your vote this month (voting closes on Monday, December 7, with the winner announced on Tuesday, December 8), and you could win the chance to meet and present the award to the winning player.
As well as the Barclays Premier League award, you can also vote for the PFA Fans' Player of the Month in the Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.
And if you are still undecided, Merse thinks Vardy's incredible run in front of goal deserves to get the nod this month, despite Smalling's "outstanding" form and Ozil's key role for Arsenal.
Here's why...
Chris Smalling - Manchester United
MERSE SAYS: Smalling has been outstanding for Manchester United. He has improved immensely. He's getting better and better with every performance. He's now vital to Manchester United and that's testament to his performances. He certainly deserves to be in the final three. There's no doubt about that. He has been superb.
Jamie Vardy - Leicester City
MERSE SAYS: You have to hand it Jamie Vardy! He just keeps scoring every week. He's been phenomenal. What a record. To beat Ruud van Nistelrooy's record is no mean feat. He would definitely get my vote!
Mesut Ozil - Arsenal
MERSE SAYS: Ozil has stepped up and has shown his class. He's taken a lot of stick during his time in England but he is now proving to everybody what a great player he is. He's been outstanding. With Arsenal now without Alexis Sanchez, Ozil is absolutely vital. They cannot afford to lose him to injury. That would be a nightmare.
