Paul Merson says Real Madrid are sure to make a big offer for Spurs' Harry Kane in the summer, with under-fire forward Karim Benzema "not in the same class" as the 24-year-old.
Kane has been the subject of speculation linking him with the Bernabeu in light of a stellar 2017-18 and the Premier League's top goalscorer was on target in Spurs' midweek 2-2 Champions League draw at Juventus.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday, Merson called Kane "the best centre-forward in the world" and said he was in a different league to Benzema.
He said: "I would be worried if I was Tottenham because money talks. £200 million, or even £160 million is a lot.
"I can't see how Real Madrid don't go for him in the summer for £150-200 million. How's Benzema playing for Real Madrid?
"He's not in the same class as Kane. They're a million points behind Barcelona and they need a new centre-forward."
Charlie Nicholas added that the Spurs forward was now in the same class as Lionel Messi, who he outscored in 2017 despite playing 12 fewer games.
He said: "He could've scored three or four last weekend against Arsenal. We're starting to think about Harry Kane about is he up there with the Messis - and he probably is.
"The reason for that is because it looks so effortless for him. The mix of goals he gets as a number nine, is quite remarkable.
"There's a desire in him, he goes left, he goes right, he goes through the middle. He just loves scoring goals. He loves agitating people, without provoking the situation."
