Tommy Wright unsure on Rangers loanee Michael O'Halloran's future

Michael O'Halloran will spend the remainder of 2017 back at St Johnstone on loan

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright wants to extend Michael O'Halloran's loan spell but is unsure on the Rangers winger’s future.

O'Halloran was deemed surplus to requirements by previous Gers boss Pedro Caixinha and secured a six-month switch to former side St Johnstone in the summer, but Wright is uncertain as to whether the 26-year-old will be recalled by Graeme Murty or allowed to stay in Perth.

He is due to play the last match of his deal against Dundee on Saturday before he is scheduled to return to Ibrox, and Wright is struggling to get an answer from the player's agent about the possibility of extending his second stint at McDiarmid Park.

"There's no change," Wright said. "This will be his last game in the current agreement.

"The hope from my point of view is that we can get him back but I have tried to get hold of his agent over the last few days and can't get him. So it's something we will have to discuss.

"I have told my chairman I would like him back and if there is an opportunity I would like to think that my chairman could make that happen for me."
