Tottenham will be kicking themselves after losing on their Wembley bow to a Chelsea side missing their title-winning spine, according to Jamie Redknapp.
Spurs' woeful record at Wembley took a turn for the worse as Marcos Alonso's double inflicted a dramatic 2-1 defeat on Mauricio Pochettino's men on their first outing at their temporary home.
The champions were without suspended duo Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas, injured talisman Eden Hazard, and wantaway striker Diego Costa but they managed to claim their fourth straight win over their London rivals at the national stadium.
"It's a big opportunity missed," Redknapp told Sky Sports, after Spurs' eighth defeat in their last 11 trips to Wembley.
"When you see the team sheets at the start, and compare them to last season, Spurs will be kicking themselves they didn't get the result.
"There was no Cahill at the back, no Hazard - their best player - no Costa, no Nemanja Matic, so looking at that Spurs will be disappointed not to get three points."
Spurs registered 18 attempts on goal, twice as many as Chelsea, and managed six shots on target to the champions' two, underlining their superiority.
It led to Spurs boss Pochettino claiming his side were the better team, despite seeing a 19-game unbeaten run at home come to an end.
"You can understand why Pochettino said he was pleased with the display," Redknapp added. "They played and showed real glimpses today.
"There were some great passages of play, all that was missing was that clinical edge.
"But make no mistake about it, when the dust settles, they'll be thinking they should have won the game."
