“Liverpool have signed some good players and I hope my old club can reach the top four but it will probably need one of the other big clubs to under-perform significantly for it to happen.”

“I hate being negative about teams early on in the season as you can never tell how the players will react to a new manager, season or even league. Sunderland have been dancing with the devil for a couple of seasons and nothing significant seems to have changed. It’s probably my heart ruling my head but I’m hoping Bournemouth will perform best out of the three promoted sides.”

Top Goalscorer: Sergio Aguero

“If he stays fit, this is the stand out bet. He’s a real predator, the best finisher in the Premier League. And if he stays fresh this season I reckon he’ll take some stopping.”

Sky Bet odds: 11/4
