Former West Ham winger Blair Turgott has become the latest success story of Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy after agreeing a deal to join Stevenage, Sky Sports News HQ understands.

Sky Sports News HQ understands the 23-year-old still has to undergo a medical, but will join fellow V9 player Danny Newton at the Sky Bet League Two club.

Turgott spent last season at National League side Bromley, scoring 15 goals in 47 appearances, and impressed scouts after appearing in V9 Academy games earlier this month.

"Blair displayed a great attitude all week. He showcased his ability when in possession always being positive and affecting the play," said Simon Ireland, QPR's head of coaching and lead coach at the V9 Academy.

"He has had a couple of knock backs in his career but has shown good resilience to bounce back and take the opportunity that V9 offered."

Sky Sports News HQ understands Turgott, who made one appearance for West Ham after graduating from their academy ranks, also attracted interest from Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Molde, Northampton and Kilmarnock.
