Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand was not involved in England's training session at St George's Park ahead of the friendly against Germany.

The left-back is being assessed by the national team's medical department after picking up a knock in the weekend game against Liverpool, while Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck also sat out the session as he is on a different programme, as agreed with his club.

Raheem Sterling and Joe Hart have already withdrawn from the squad after sustaining muscle injuries while playing for Manchester City over the weekend.
