Police in Paris carry out a controlled explosion on a suspicious bag near the French football team's hotel ahead of the Euro 2016 final.

French police carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious bag found outside the France team hotel in Paris.

French police became concerned when a bag was left unattended yards from the French team bus and took decisive action, ahead of the national team's final against Portugal at Stade de France.

Sky Sports News HQ chief news reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who at the scene, explained: "We were standing outside alongside our media colleagues and around 500 to 1000 France supporters, who had gathered there.

"Suddenly, we noticed some police appearing and they started saying 'Whose bag is this?' They were referring to a wheelie bag. It was propped up with its handle up.

"Nobody came forward and said it was their bag, at that point, the police decided to move everybody out of the area.

"The bag was right outside the hotel, about 10 to 15 metres away from the France coach."

A bomb squad officer subsequently walked up to the bag, laid a cable back to his van and carried out a controlled explosion.

The incident was later confirmed to be a false alarm.
