New Granada boss Tony Adams promised fans he will fight for a "miracle" survival to keep the struggling side in La Liga, a day after being named interim coach until the end of the season.
Adams was appointed on Monday after the sacking of Lucas Alcaraz with Granada languishing 19th in La Liga with 20 points from 31 games, seven points adrift from safety with seven games remaining.
The former Arsenal and England captain, whose last managerial post was at Azerbaijan club Gabala FK in 2010/11 following spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth, had been working in an advisory capacity at Granada.
And the 50-year-old, who was propelled into the position after being appointed as sporting director just last week, said he will whip his side into action in their battle to avoid the drop.
Speaking in his first news conference since being named manager, Adams said: "(I) will try some things in training to liven up the team, as we try to achieve a miracle.
"We will be fighting to win every game. That's what the president wants, it's what the fans want."
Adams admitted the appointment came as a surprise but insists his role was purely with a view to extending Granada's stay in La Liga.
"I've been here five months and didn't see this coming," he added. "I'm very much an interim coach.
"We will be fighting to win every game. That's what the president wants, it's what the fans want.
"Our focus right now is winning on Sunday. We need to be a tough unit. We have a job to do in the next seven games."
Adams begins his bid to maintain Granada's top-flight status when his side host Celta Vigo on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 7.40pm.
