Jamie Carragher looks at how Tottenham could get better over the summer

Jamie Carragher questioned how Tottenham can improve this summer after seeing them thrash Leicester 6-1 on Thursday.

Harry Kane scored four times in the rout as Spurs produced a fantastic performance at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs have won more points than any other side in the Premier League over the last two seasons, but have no trophies to show for their efforts.

And, speaking on Sky Sports, former Liverpool defender Carragher asked what they need to do to improve further and win silverware.

"The big thing for Tottenham, if you go through the team in every position, is who can you get who is better and replaces who you have got?" he said.

"I always talk about the right-hand side, but who can you get to go straight in? That's the one position, but I don't know who it is.

"[Moussa] Sissoko hasn't worked, and then you think of [Sadio] Mane, who they were reportedly interested in last summer. That's the one player they lack - someone with blistering pace in the front four or five.

"They get that from the full-backs, but is that a problem away from home? Sometimes you get forced back and you need to play on the counter. They don't have too many players who can make that run in behind. If they had Mane instead of Sissoko maybe they would get more points away from home."

Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with Harry Kane after his four-goal haul

Carragher conceded, though, that it won't be easy for Spurs to strengthen their team, having tried last summer with the signings of Sissoko and Vincent Janssen, neither of whom has made an impact yet.

"It isn't easy going forward and that was proven last summer because they spent £50-£60m without improving the starting XI," he said.

"It's not a criticism of Mauricio Pochettino because it's not easy, but they need someone in that position that is better than Sissoko to lift the level."

Highlights: Leicester 1-6 Tottenham

Spurs finish the season with a trip to Hull on Sunday when Kane will be looking to wrap up the Golden Boot award.

The striker is now two clear of Romelu Lukaku at the top of the charts, and Carragher was full of praise for Spurs after their thrashing of Leicester.

"They have a great team," he said. "But they don't want to be mentioned with other teams in the past…This team is too good. Kane and Dele Alli are the best front two in the league, they get great assists, great goals, and are we talking about their performances week in, week out.

"With the quality they have got you'd love to see them win something next year. It doesn't have to be the league, just win something."
