Belgium's Toby Alderweireld to miss Portugal friendly due to illness

Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out of Belgium’s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday due to illness.

Alderweireld has been suffering with a stomach bug and will not travel with the squad to Leiria on Monday.

The game was originally scheduled to take place in Brussels but was rearranged in the wake of last week's terror attacks.

Alderweireld has played every minute for Spurs this season and Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping he recovers in time for Saturday's trip to Liverpool.

In better news for Tottenham and Belgium, Mousa Dembele has been passed fit to face Portugal after recovering from an ankle knock.
