Cambridge have signed Ade Azeez from Partick Thistle for an undisclosed fee.

The former AFC Wimbledon striker has signed a two-year contract at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

"I have driven down from Scotland with a big smile on my face because I'm really excited to move to Cambridge United," Azeez, 23, told the Sky Bet League Two club's official website.

"There has always been a really good feel about this football club whenever I have played here in the past.

"As soon as I had a conversation with (head coach) Shaun Derry and other staff from the club, I knew that this was the right place to come.

"Hopefully I can get a lot of goals for this club."

Azeez began his career at Charlton and had loan spells at Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Torquay and Dagenham.

He scored 14 goals in 98 games for AFC Wimbledon, helping the club win promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2016, before joining Partick last summer.

Derry said of Azeez: "He's a player we have been keeping a close eye on for many months now.

"He brings a completely different dimension to our forward options and we're sure he will thrive in the club's environment."
