Watford 2016/17 season preview: Five questions

Troy Deeney will have a big role to play for Watford in the 2016/17 Premier League season

As we preview the new Premier League season, we pick out five questions for Watford.

What have they done in the transfer market?

Watford's biggest signing of the summer is Isaac Success from Granada, although whether he can break the Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney partnership remains to be seen. There are likely to be some opportunities given new coach Walter Mazzarri's commitment to 3-5-2.

That explains the arrival of specialist wing-back Juan Zuniga, while Brice Dja Djedje will also bolster them on the flanks. Christian Kabasele has arrived from Genk in a £6m deal and is expected to take up a slot in the back-three.

What does the manager say?

"At Napoli, it was a great adventure that lasted four years with intense pressure. But I must say I work best under pressure because I like challenges. It was time for me to go abroad and put myself to the test as I need challenges in life. The Premier League is the right place to start for that as it's the most important league in the world."

Paul Merson says: "I'd put Watford in the bottom six but they could easily finish in the bottom three. Can Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo score the goals to keep Watford up for a second season in a row? Have the rest of the team got much to bring to the party?"
