Las Palmas have appointed Paco Jemez as coach until the end of the season as they battle relegation from La Liga.

The former Spain international returns to his hometown club for a second time after a brief spell in charge in the second tier between 2010 and 2011, replacing Pako Ayestaran who was sacked at the end of November.

La Liga Highlights: Barcelona

"UD Las Palmas has reached an agreement until the end of this season with coach Paco Jemez," read a statement on the club's official website.

"He arrives free after concluding his journey in Mexican soccer with Cruz Azul. He will be officially presented on Wednesday, December 27.

"Paco Jemez is accompanied by his backroom staff of Juan Luna Eslava, Julio Luis Munoz Saldana and Jorge Ramirez Fernandez."

Jemez previously enjoyed a successful spell in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano before their relegation in 2016 and then went to Granada, where he was sacked after the club's worst start to a season in 70 years.
