David Prutton's Easter EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of the big Easter weekend of Sky Bet EFL matches.

With nine games live on Sky Sports Football over the weekend, our EFL expert offers his tips here...

Preston v Derby, Easter Monday, live on Sky Sports Football from 12.30pm

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Alex Neil deserves a lot of credit for the job he's done at Preston in picking up the mantle from Simon Grayson.

This is a great chance for them to beat another play-off rival and move a step closer to a shot at promotion, which not many thought was possible for them at the start of the campaign, and I'm backing them for a narrow home win.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 with Sean Maguire to score (22/1 with Sky Bet)

Sheffield United v Cardiff, Easter Monday, live on Sky Sports Football from 7.30pm

Neil Warnock will be licking his lips at the prospect of a return to Bramall Lane, where he should get a fantastic reception from all four corners of the ground. He hasn't been back very often since leaving his boyhood club in 2007 and you imagine this is one of the games he would have been looking out for at the start of the season.

That being said, the bigger picture for him will always be winning promotion and this is just another stop on his way to achieving that. This will be a bruising encounter but I can see Cardiff just about edging it.

Portsmouth v Wigan, Easter Monday, live on Sky Sports Football from 5.15pm

This is a big challenge for Wigan as they continue their push for promotion in League One. They've still got games in hand on the other sides battling to go up but any slip-up could be costly.

Portsmouth have plenty to play for themselves as they target a top-six finish, which would be fantastic for them in the season after getting promoted. But this is a Wigan win for me.

Prutton predicts: 0-2 with Nick Powell to score first (22/1 with Sky Bet)

Live EFL

Fulham v Leeds, Tuesday, live on Sky Sports Football from 7.30pm

It looks as though it's going to be the play-offs again for Fulham and they'll hope to be better prepared for it now than they were last season, when they were favourites going in but slipped up against Reading.

Leeds, meanwhile, just need the season to end with as little damage as possible to allow Paul Heckingbottom the chance to build his team in the summer. This is a home win for me.

Prutton predicts: 3-1 (11/1 with Sky Bet)
