Rangers are set to learn the extent of Danny Wilson's knee injury this week as they prepare for the midweek visit of Aberdeen.

The defender will miss the final two games of the season but there are fears he could be told he faces a much lengthier rehabilitation period when he sees a specialist.

Jordan Rossiter re-joined the first team for light training on Monday after almost an entire season out with calf and back issues and is upping his recovery work but he will not feature against the Dons on Wednesday at Ibrox.

Skipper Lee Wallace (stomach), Rob Kiernan (calf), Philippe Senderos (knee) and Niko Kranjcar (knee) also remain out for Pedro Caixinha's side.

Aberdeen have all-but sealed second spot in the Scottish Premiership due to their superior goal difference over Rangers but Caixinha is determined to close the points gap on Derek McInnes' side in their remaining two matches this season.

"Now we play Aberdeen and we are just six points behind them, we want to win another one to stay just three points behind second position," Caixinha told rangers.co.uk.

"Knowing the goal difference it is totally impossible to reach Aberdeen but at least the points difference we can get closer to and that is what we are going to try for this next couple of matches."

McInnes said: "We have got a few things to consider, but the priority is the Scottish Cup final.

"We want to go down to Ibrox and get a result, but we have to go down to Glasgow three times in our final three games over the next fortnight. While the other two games are important, the most important is the cup final.

"We need to make sure we are in tip-top shape for that. We can't pick up any more injuries with Ryan Jack and Peter Pawlett doubtful for the cup final as things stand."
