Rangers v Celtic: Team news for Saturday's Premiership clash
Saturday 31 December 2016 12:59, UK
Rangers boss Mark Warburton may have to shuffle his defence for the Scottish Premiership clash with Celtic at Ibrox on Hogmanay.
Left-back Lee Wallace and central defender Clint Hill will be given late fitness checks ahead of the encounter, live on Sky Sports 1.
Wallace tweaked his hamstring in last weekend's win over Inverness CT, and missed the midweek match against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
Hill played for 66 minutes of the 1-1 draw against Saints before he suffered a dead leg and was replaced by Lee Hodson.
Warburton has Hodson as an option for cover at full-back, while Philippe Senderos can cover in central defence.
Rangers are hoping to be the first team to beat Celtic in a domestic match since St Johnstone defeated the champions 2-1 in May.
And a victory for Warburton's team would at worst consolidate their advantage over third-place Aberdeen ahead of this weekend's fixtures.
Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has been ruled out of the trip to Glasgow's south side because of an ankle injury.
The Australia international has missed the last three matches after suffering the injury in the 2-1 victory over Dundee at Celtic Park.
Fellow midfielder Callum McGregor is available for selection after missing the midweek win over Ross County due to a one-match suspension and is vying with Ryan Christie for a starting place.
Kieran Tierney has returned to training but is not expected to play, with Emilio Izaguirre offering experience at left-back.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has to decide if in-form Leigh Griffiths or Moussa Dembele, who has scored four goals in the previous two meeting with Rangers this season, will lead the attack as Celtic look to increase their lead at the top of the table to 19 points.
