Scottish Premiership: Rangers v Motherwell preview
Friday 26 August 2016 08:32, UK
Early Premiership pace-setters Rangers have an unchanged squad available for the visit of Motherwell to Ibrox.
Jason Holt (ankle) is out but is due back in training soon, while Martyn Waghorn (hamstring) will rejoin his team-mates on Monday and will not feature here.
Josh Windass (hamstring) and Matt Crooks (ankle) are close to returns but will not be ready to face the Steelmen.
Hopes of fresh defensive reinforcements being available appear to have been stymied for the present; Joleon Lescott's move has fallen through for family reasons and no decision has been taken on Philippe Senderos, who has been training at Auchenhowie.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has dismissed the claims of his Motherwell counterpart Mark McGhee that his team should be closer to Rangers than Celtic because of the gap in levels of spending between the Glasgow clubs.
"It's a game of opinions," Warburton said. "That's the beauty of the game, that's why we love it so much. That's Mark's opinion, mine may differ slightly, but we will see after Saturday."
Steven Hammell is back in the Motherwell squad for the trip to Govan after returning to training following a calf strain.
But midfielder Carl McHugh remains out with concussion and Louis Moult is still recovering from groin surgery.
Jacob Blyth and James McFadden are likely to make the bench at best as they build up fitness following injuries.
