Southend v Brentford preview
Monday 13 August 2018 11:49, UK
Southend could be without Luke Hyam and Sam Barratt for the visit of Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
Hyam missed Saturday's 1-1 draw at Plymouth with a slight hamstring problem while Barratt was unavailable due to a knee injury. Boss Chris Powell is unlikely to risk either player unless they are fully fit.
Teenage midfielder Michael Klass came off the bench for his Football League debut against Argyle and should be involved again.
Ryan Woods could return to the Brentford line-up. The midfielder was left out of Brentford's first two squads this season amid transfer speculation linking him with Swansea.
The trip to Roots Hall could also offer a chance for Moses Odubajo to get some minutes under his belt after rejoining the Bees on a free transfer. French defender Julian Jeanvier could make his debut following his summer switch from Reims.
