The Owls have progressed from two of their three League Cup ties v Stoke City, though this is their first meeting in this competition since September 1999.

Stoke have alternated between being knocked out and progressing in their last six League Cup games at home.

The Owls have won 1-0 twice in their last three away games in the League Cup, losing 7-0 in the other to Man City.

    Charlie Nicholas' prediction

Mark Hughes will be on the mind that he'll really want to win this game. They've been presented with a great draw and there's no reason for them not to think they can win the Capital One Cup. If they can beat Chelsea they can beat anyone.

Sheffield Wednesday were obviously excellent against my old club Arsenal and will think they've got nothing to lose, open up and have a go at Stoke, which will suit the hosts. Carlos Carvalhal has some unpredictable talent in his side but I think the hosts will be able to grind a win out.

Charlie predicts: 3-1 with Jonathan Walters to score first (40/1 with Sky Bet)

    Betting

Stoke are odds-on at 8/11 with Sky Bet to make the semi-finals with a victory within 90 minutes on Tuesday night, as Sheffield Wednesday go up against odds on 18/5 to win and 13/5 to take the tie to extra-time. Mame Biram Diouf and Jon Walters share favouritism in the first goalscorer market at 9/2 apiece while Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao are rated the visitors' main threats at 8/1 apiece. The Potters head into the tie as 9/1 fifth favourites while their Carlos Carvalhal's men are the joint longest price of those left in the competition at 40/1.
