Valencia v Espanyol preview: Gary Neville seeks first league victory
Friday 12 February 2016 17:26, UK
Gary Neville continues his search for a first La Liga win as Valencia boss when his side entertain relegation-threatened Espanyol at the Mestalla on Saturday evening.
Ten league games have passed since the former England international took charge at the Mestalla and the club have slipped down to 14th place, just four points above the drop zone.
Neville accepts there will be no excuses should they fail again against struggling Espanyol, who have shipped 11 goals without reply in their last two matches.
"I haven't seen the players panic and they haven't seen me panic," Neville said at his pre-match press conference.
"We've not changed tack, we've not changed the way in which we work. We believe in our work. We cannot believe we'll continue to have that misfortune in front of goal we've had the last few matches.
"We have to win tomorrow and that's what we're focusing on. I understand the build-up to this game externally - it's a final.
"From my point of view there are still 14 games to go after this and nothing will be decided on Saturday. A victory doesn't mean that everything's perfect.
"But we're playing Espanyol and we expect to win."
