Highlights of the Carabao Cup third round match between Wolves and Bristol Rovers

Wolves striker Bright Enobakhare spared the blushes of the Championship high flyers as they battled to a 1-0 extra time win against Bristol Rovers in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Molineux.

Enobakhare's first goal of the season in the 98th minute - and his first for two years - broke Rovers fans' hearts. Rovers, who had beaten Fulham in the previous round, more than held their own against Wolves and had chances to win the game in normal time.

Even after Enobakhare had struck, they still refused to buckle with Dominic Telford seeing his shot deflected onto the bar by goalkeeper Will Norris - the second time they had hit the woodwork. Norris then denied Liam Sercombe in the 109th minute as Wolves held on.

Rovers' night ended on a sour note when skipper Tom Lockyer was sent-off for holding back Donovan Wilson.

Wolves handed a first start in 17 months to Michal Zyro who had suffered knee ligament damage against MK Dons in April last year, and he looked determined to make up for lost time. The Polish forward had a sixth-minute drive blocked and was then narrowly off target twice in the space of 60 seconds.

In the 13th minute he drove over the bar from just inside the area and then lifted his close-range shot the wrong side of the post. Having survived that early Wolves flurry, Rovers got a foothold in the game and were inches away from breaking the deadlock after 21 minutes.

Billy Bodin teased the Wolves defence after cutting in from the left-wing and rolled a pass into the path of Tom Nicholls, whose shot was deflected over the bar. Sercombe then came even closer to giving Rovers the lead after 41 minutes when he turned away from Roderick Miranda and let fly with a fierce drive that Norris was relieved to parry away.

Having lost their way after a promising opening, Wolves made a quick start to the second period and would have broken the deadlock in the 52nd minute but for goalkeeper Sam Slocombe who pulled off a stunning save to deny Enobakhare.

It was a false dawn for Wolves and it was Rovers who looked the side more likely to score. Wolves were indebted to Norris for keeping them on level terms when Sercombe held off Alfred N'Diaye and fed Marc Bola who saw his shot was tipped onto the post in the 71st minute.

Wolves substitute Ivan Cavaleiro was then denied by Slocombe after 80 minutes and Miranda hit the bar in the final minute as Wolves made a late bid to avoid extra time.
