England have announced they will base themselves in Chantilly, on the outskirts of Paris, for Euro 2016.

Roy Hodgson's side qualified for next summer's European Championship with victory over San Marino at the weekend and the Football Association have now revealed the team will be based at the exclusive Auberge du Jeu de Paume hotel during the tournament.

The five-star, £500-a-night hotel is located next to the historic Chateau de Chantilly, home one of the finest art collections in France, and adjacent to the racecourse which is where the French derby is run.

Chantilly, which has a population of 11,000, is around 25 minutes away from Charles de Gaulle airport and the hotel's setting will ensure the England team are not disturbed following their experiences of Krakow three years ago.

During Euro 2012 England were based in the centre of town and were initially kept awake due to noise from a nearby bar.

England's squad will train at the training ground for local amateur club US Chantilly, which was used by Spain during the 1998 World Cup.

However, the training ground currently only has basic facilities so it will be renovated prior to the tournament.

Hodgson said: "I'm sure those people who race over tomorrow to look at it will see something a little bit different than in June because there is work to be done.

"It's a base we've spent a long time preparing for. We looked at other places in France before we made up our mind.

"We had a very clear set of criteria that we wanted to fulfil in this base camp: proximity to the training ground, the type of town where the camp would be, proximity to the airport and quite a few other criteria.

"When we looked around we eventually came to the conclusion that Chantilly was the one which best filled the criteria."

England will find out who they will face at the tournament on December 12 when the group stage draw is made in Paris
