Arsenal put 10 past Spurs in the last round but are out at the hands of B'ham

Arsenal Ladies have been dumped out of the Women's FA Cup quarter-finals by Birmingham after a 1-0 defeat on Sunday.

Marisa Ewers' goal at Solihull Moors FC was enough to earn victory for the hosts and knock out last year's winners, who had fired 10 past rivals Tottenham in the fifth round.

Ewers smashed home into the top corner on 77 minutes after being played in by substitute Ellie Brazil.

But Blues goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger also deserves credit for a string of fine saves, especially in the first half to deny Gunners stars Kim Little, Danielle Carter and Danielle van de Donk.

Meanwhile, Manchester City left it late to overcome Bristol City 2-1 thanks to Nikita Parris' winner right at the death.

Hayley Ladd's own goal had put City into the lead after just six minutes but Claire Emslie equalised for the hosts.

Ramona Bachmann and Hannah Blundell both scored twice for Chelsea as they thrashed Sunderland 5-1 at Wheatsheaf Park to reach the semi-finals.

Sunderland had frustrated the Blues in the first half and led through Lucy Staniforth's penalty but a dominant second-half display was finished off with a fifth from Drew Spence.

And in the other quarter-final, Liverpool beat Notts County 2-0 with goals from Caroline Weir and Natasha Harding in the opening period.
