David Haye has officially confirmed Shannon Briggs will fight on his undercard on 21 May - and will fight the American if both men win.
The two were involved in a melee at the side of the stage as Anthony Joshua and Charles Martin concluded their weigh-in before Saturday's IBF heavyweight title fight, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Briggs and Haye needed to be separated and exchanged insults before it was confirmed that the American would fight on the Brit's undercard on May 21. Haye, after boxing Arnold Gjergjaj, has promised to fight Briggs if they are both successful next month.
I think he's talked himself into getting knocked out now.
Asked if Friday's altercation had convinced him to fight 44-year-old Briggs, Haye told Sky Sports News HQ: "Yes, I think he's talked himself into getting knocked out now.
"The big moron Shannon Briggs - everywhere I go, this guy keeps chasing me around.
"He can fight on my undercard - if he can win, if he can pass the medical, if he can pass the brain scan, then I'll knock him out afterwards.
"His manager called [on Thursday] and I said 'fight on the undercard and I'll fight you after'. He said he wants to do it. So he'll get knocked out."
Haye did insist that Briggs didn't attempt to get physical as they traded verbals, saying: "No he didn't, he knows not to. Sorry, I'm a bit wound up."
Haye later confirmed on Facebook: "Briggs will be fighting on my undercard on May 21 at The O2. If that chump can beat somebody then I'll obliterate him after.
"I'll put an end to the 'let's go champ' movement. I'm changing it to 'let's go chump'."
And on Saturday morning Haye posted on Instagram: "It's official, Shannon 'Lets Go Chump' Briggs will be fighting on my undercard at @theo2london on May 21st, if he wins that, then I will step into the ring with him later this year to teach him a serious lesson in respect."
Briggs is a former WBO heavyweight champion who, since a 2010 loss to Vitali Klitschko, has strung together eight victories.
Briggs applied for his licence to fight in the UK to the BBBoC on Friday.
Robert Smith from the BBBoC confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ: "The application was received yesterday, is on my desk, and will be considered in due course."
Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua is live on Sky Sports Box Office on April 9. Order the event online now.
