Edinburgh hooker George Turner has joined PRO12 rivals Glasgow Warriors on a season-long loan.

The 24-year old, who signed a two-year contract extension at Edinburgh in 2016, switches to the Warriors after making six appearances for London Scottish during a short loan spell last season.

Turner was one of three uncapped players picked in Scotland's squad for their summer tour of Italy, Australia and Fiji but he failed to feature, with Ross Ford and Fraser Brown sharing the number two role.

The hooker joins the Glasgow outfit following six years in the capital and is confident he's settled in quickly to his new surroundings.

"It's exciting to join the Warriors, as this is my first move as a professional rugby player," Turner told Warriors TV.

"I know the players who were on the Scotland tour and I know a couple of players who were at Edinburgh before, so it has been an easy transition and easy getting started."

Turner's move to the Warriors comes at a time when Scotland international Fraser Brown faces up to four months out following ankle surgery, and the 24-year old appreciates it is a big opportunity to prove his worth.

"Fraser Brown has been in the form of his life, he's been playing really well. I've seen him develop over the last few years after he came here [from Edinburgh] and hopefully I can do the same and push on from where I am now," added Turner.

"James [Malcolm] and Pat [MacArthur] are two great players and with Fraser out injured it gives me a bit of a chance, so hopefully I can impress in pre-season and make my mark in the team."
