Scottish Rugby has sacked chief executive Alex Williamson following an independent investigation into his conduct.
Williamson began work at Murrayfield in early 2025 after being appointed successor to Mark Dodson the previous September.
He was placed on extended leave in May this year, with Scottish Rugby giving no details at the time about the reasons behind the decision.
Chairman of Scottish Rugby Limited, John McGuigan, said in a statement: "The board of Scottish Rugby has today dismissed Alex Williamson from his position as chief executive with immediate effect.
"His dismissal follows the conclusion of an independent investigation into matters that were brought to the board's attention earlier this year.
"In light of the investigation findings, the board of Scottish Rugby concluded that the CEO's conduct had fallen significantly below the standards we set as an organisation."
Williamson began work at Murrayfield in early 2025 after being appointed successor to Mark Dodson the previous September.
The SRU announced on May 23 this year that Williamson was on a "period of extended leave" but gave no details at the time about the reasons behind the development.
Chief financial officer David White will act as chief executive on an interim basis while the recruitment process for a new chief executive takes place.
