Dan Carter will miss Racing 92's Top 14 semi-final against Castres with a hamstring injury.
The All Blacks legend should be fit for the final if Racing are victorious in Lyon on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Action.
Carter is moving to Japan at the end of the season and the fly-half missed Racing's Champions Cup final loss to Leinster earlier this month after a suffering a thigh strain.
Remi Tales, who took Carter's place on the bench for the final and then the place of the injured Pat Lambie after just three minutes, is set to be given the No 10 shirt against his former club.
Versatile half-back Antoine Gibert is likely be named among the replacements. The 20-year-old can cover both Tales and Teddy Iribaren, who starts at scrum-half in the absence of the injured Maxime Machenaud.
Castres' influential hooker Jody Jenneker will also miss the semi-final after receiving a three-week ban for his red card in last weekend's win over Toulouse.
