Resurgent AC Milan took a share of second place in the Serie A table by beating Lazio 2-0 at San Siro.

A first-half goal from Carlos Bacca and M'Baye Niang's 73rd-minute penalty delivered a second straight win for Vincenzo Montella's Rossoneri, who are now level on points with champions Juventus in second.

Despite suffering a second loss of the new season, Lazio remain three points behind leaders Napoli.

Lazio carved out the first chance of the game with 17-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma reacting well to make a fingertip save on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's header in the 11th minute.

Bacca exploited a poor error from Danilo Cataldi to open the scoring eight minutes before the break, the Colombian latching onto Juraj Kucka's ball forward before beating goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

Milan could have doubled their lead before half-time but debutant Strakosha - a last-minute pick following an injury to Federico Marchetti during the warm-up - denied Giacomo Bonaventura.

Suso delivered a clever pass for Niang in the 56th minute that the Frenchman failed to stick away from two yards out, but Milan would nevertheless find their second goal when Niang converted from the spot after Stefan Radu handled Bacca's cross was penalised.
