Chile's World Cup qualification hopes were left on a knife edge on Tuesday after the South American heavyweights slipped up once again on the road to next year's finals in Russia, crashing to a 1-0 defeat against Bolivia.
It leaves Chile sixth in qualifying with two games left to play, a point behind Argentina in fifth. The top four in South American qualifying automatically progress to the World Cup, while fifth goes into a November play-off.
Alexis Sanchez and Co were beaten by a Juan Carlos Arce penalty in La Paz, and now face a difficult run-in against Ecuador and Brazil to keep their dream alive.
Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi was in defiant mood, however, saying: "We will fight, we will make the greatest effort possible, we believe that we have the ability to compete with the best and we will try to obtain the results that allow us to qualify.
"There are two matches left, I'm going to fight and my players are going to fight, with all the force we have."
