Jackson Irvine and Michael Kightly are injury concerns for Burton ahead of their crucial home clash with Sky Bet Championship relegation rivals Blackburn on Friday night.

Midfielder Irvine was withdrawn at half-time during the draw at Derby in midweek with a tight hamstring while winger Kightly missed the short trip along the A38 because of a similar issue.

Like Kightly, Lucas Akins picked up an injury in the build-up to the Derby game and the forward looks likely to remain on the sidelines.

Defenders John Brayford (knee), Kyle McFadzean (toe) and Damien McCrory (hamstring) all continue to recover from their ongoing injury problems and are also out.

Tony Mowbray should have Sam Gallagher back in the fold for his first match in charge of Blackburn.

The striker missed last weekend's FA Cup loss to Manchester United, the final game of the Owen Coyle era, due to a knee problem but trained fully on Thursday for Mowbray's first proper session.

Elliott Bennett and Hope Akpan are both still suspended for Mowbray, who can once again call on the previously cup-tied Lucas Joao.
