Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard has agreed terms on a move to Sheffield United, according to Sky sources.
The 25-year-old travelled to South Yorkshire on Friday night to hold talks after both clubs agreed a £700,000 fee.
Leonard, who had less than six months remaining on his contract at Southend, will sign a three-and-a-half-year deal following successful talks with the Sky Bet Championship club.
However, Sky Sports News understands a medical to take him to Bramall Lane will not be completed until Monday.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has pursued the signing of Leonard over the previous 12 months and had seen numerous bids rejected by the League One side.
Leonard joined Southend from Plymouth in 2011 and has made over 250 appearances for the club.
He became a fan favourite in that time, winning the Supporters' Player of the Season Award three times in 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2016/17.
