Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Jose Mourinho has "unfinished business" at the club and would welcome him back to the Bernabeu in the future, says Guillem Balague.
Mourinho managed Real between 2010 and 2013, winning one La Liga and one Copa del Rey title during a period of dominance for Barcelona.
His Chelsea side currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League after a poor start to the season, and according to Balague, Perez still feels the Portuguese manager would do a job at the Bernabeu.
"Florentino Perez thinks that Jose Mourinho has got unfinished business with Real Madrid," he told Sky Sports.
"Perez feels that Mourinho had to face the best team in history in Barcelona when he was Real Madrid manager, and that if he came now he would actually do a job.
"I don't mean right now, but there is a plan that in some point in the future, Florentino Perez would like to have Jose Mourinho back.
"Not right now, because Rafa Benitez is doing a good job, is still fighting for all the titles, even with all the injuries and all the problems they have had to deal with in the past few months."
Benitez's Real are currently unbeaten this season, sitting joint-top of La Liga, having already qualified from the Champions League group stages.
