Bayern Munich are preparing to hijack Chelsea's plans to sign Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara, Sky sources understand.

It is understood the Blues are very interested in Diawara and were keen on a deal to sign him in the summer.

Chelsea have scouted the player regularly this season but a summer move to Bayern now appears his most likely destination.

The highly-rated midfielder has received widespread praise for his performances for the Serie A club this season and is being tracked by some of Europe's elite clubs.

The 18-year-old has made 20 appearances for Bologna in his maiden senior season and now, according to sources in Italy and Germany, Bayern Munich are eyeing his signature.
