Jamie Carragher believes Tottenham are more than capable of winning Premier League titles under Mauricio Pochettino

Jamie Carragher can see no reason why Mauricio Pochettino would leave Tottenham and has tipped the Argentine to lead the club to success "for years to come".

Spurs moved to within five points of Premier League leaders Leicester with an assured 4-0 victory at Stoke on Monday Night Football.

Pochettino's ability to challenge for the title, while overseeing a mass transformation project at Spurs both on and off the pitch, has seen his stock rise, with Real Madrid and Manchester United among the clubs reportedly interested in his services.

But Carragher, while acknowledging the lure of the Bernabeu, believes Pochettino has everything he needs to turn Spurs into a dominant force of English football.

"Why would Pochettino want to go? Where would he go?" Carragher said.

"Real Madrid, for both players and managers, is a dream but it's a mad house, managers are there for a year and if they're there for two they've won the lottery!

Mauricio Pochettino says his Tottenham side are still fighting for and dreaming of winning the Premier League

"What Pochettino has created at Spurs; the players he has got and the age of those players, one of the best training grounds, a new stadium being built to rival Arsenal and Manchester United - everything is there at Tottenham for a manager.

"If he wanted to go to Real Madrid in the future of course he could do that, but for him now he has got to win a lot of trophies with this team because they are very capable of doing it.

"I have said many times that this is an unbelievable chance for Spurs to win the league this season, a chance that may not come again. But the more I watch them the more I think this chance might come again.

"I'm expecting Chelsea to get stronger next season, United and Liverpool to spend, Arsenal to become better as those sides have had average seasons in their eyes.

"I was probably expecting Spurs to go back to challenging for the top four like they used to do. But the more I watch them, I think this could be a team that challenges for the title for years to come."

Harry Kane and Dele Alli impressed at the Britannia Stadium on Monday night, with the pair scoring two goals apiece as Spurs capitalised on Leicester's draw with West Ham.

Carragher, while impressed with the England duo, believes Spurs' true strength lies in the collective Pochettino has assembled, one that dealt with pressure hanging on the game in the Potteries admirably.

"The best thing I can say about Spurs is that they are a team," he added.

"I've known Spurs teams since the mid-80s and they've had good players; Glenn Hoddle, Ossie Ardiles, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne, Jurgen Klinsmann and Gareth Bale - superstar players.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli believe Tottenham's 4-0 win over Stoke is a statement of intent

"Kane and Alli are superstars, two fantastic players, but this Spurs team is a team. When you pick a Man of the Match for Spurs it could be five or six players, everyone is playing well.

"The main person who deserves credit for that is the manager, what he has created at Spurs has been absolutely fantastic.

"[Victory at Stoke] must be right up there with Tottenham's best performances of the season, considering the pressure they were under coming into the game.

"They had to win and their performance was as good as any away performance I have seen this season.

"There were no nerves there. Of course they are under pressure and had to win the game after Leicester's draw, but they were itching to play as soon as they saw the result. You could see that from the whole team."
