England have most valuable Euro 2016 squad and Cristiano Ronaldo is most valuable player, says study

England's squad has the highest transfer value at Euro 2016 while Cristiano Ronaldo will be the most valuable player in France, according to a study.

The CIES Football Observatory rates the transfer value of Roy Hodgson's squad - including Tottenham's Harry Kane and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney - at a tournament-leading €751million (about £587.5m),

Four other squads at this summer's European Championship are valued at more than €500m (£391.6m): France at €697m (£544.7m), Spain at €639m (£499.3m), Germany at €601m (£407.1m) and Belgium at €550m (£430.3m).

Portugal star Ronaldo is worth €138m (£107.8m), making him worth more than 12 entire nations at the tournament, including Austria at €135.7m (£106m) and Ukraine at €118.9m (£93m).

Hungary are at the bottom of the table, valued at just €30.1m (£23.6m). 

England's most valuable player is Kane at €112.5m (£88m), while host nation France's top star is Antoine Griezmann at €120.2m (£94m).

The CIES Football Observatory uses a range of factors to determine a player's value, including age, position, remaining length of their contract as well as international status.

Other factors taken into account include players' performances across domestic and international football, with more weight given to recent performances.
