Adam Smith is confident Jack Wilshere can improve Bournemouth as a team this season.
Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan on Deadline Day in a bid to gain more playing time after he was omitted from Sam Allardyce's first England squad.
Wilshere made his Cherries debut against West Brom on Saturday as he came on in the 63rd minute to help his side grab a 1-0 win.
His new team-mate Smith, who has been at the club since January 2014 for a second spell, believes Wilshere can elevate Bournemouth's overall quality and thinks the squad have been given a boost by his arrival.
"Jack's a massive name and I think a lot of people did not expect him to come here," he told Sky Sports News HQ.
"He's given the lads a bit of a lift and he's come on Saturday and performed well, so I'm sure if he starts on Saturday he's going to help us get a good result."
Bournemouth finished 16th in their first ever Premier League campaign last season, and Smith believes bringing Wilshere to the south coast is a statement of the club's ambition.
"It's nice to show that we can attract big names," he added.
"He's played for a massive club like Arsenal and there's great players there. All the lads know the quality that Jack has got and he can only improve us."
