Two penalties, a broken chainsaw and possibly the miss of the season as defending MLS champions Portland Timbers beat Colorado Rapids 1-0

Portland Timbers forward Fanendo Adi had a moment to forget when he missed a penalty then somehow skewed his follow-up wide.

The former FC Copenhagen striker scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot against Colorado Rapids, ensuring the Timbers' pursuit of a Western Conference play-off berth goes into the final weekend.

But the match is more likely to be remembered for his remarkable miss.

Adi had the chance to add a second from 12 yards, only for Tim Howard to save his spot-kick.

He still had the opportunity to tap home from six yards out on the follow-up, but with Howard stranded on the ground, Adi sliced his shot wide of the post.
