Everton and Liverpool go head-to-head in the Merseyside derby on Monday Night Football.

The encounter will feature players from all over the world, but there are also some Liverpool locals who could be involved.

From Leighton Baines to Trent Alexander-Arnold, we pick out the five Liverpudlians in the frame for inclusion…

Leighton Baines

Kirkby-born Baines will be the most experienced Liverpudlian to feature in Monday's meeting. The 32-year-old, who has started each of Everton's last five games since returning from injury, is a veteran of the Merseyside derby having made his first appearance as a late substitute during a 2-1 defeat at Goodison Park in October 2007.

He has only been on the winning side twice in 17 meetings since then. It's a record he will be desperate to improve on in Monday Night Football, but the left-back will be sternly tested by Liverpool's fluid attack, especially with the rapid Sadio Mane occupying their right flank with support from the in-form Adam Lallana.

Ben Woodburn

Woodburn was actually born in Chester, but he is made in Liverpool having joined their youth academy at the age of eight. Few expected he might be in contention for his first Merseyside derby appearance at the start of this season, but the 17-year-old has made a big impression on Jurgen Klopp.

The youngster has featured in Liverpool's last five matchday squads. He became the third-youngest player in their history when he made his debut in their Premier League meeting in November, and a few days later he became their youngest ever goalscorer when he volleyed home against Leeds. Monday Night Football could provide another landmark in his fledgling career.

Ross Barkley

Barkley's future is the subject of speculation at the moment, with Tottenham reportedly monitoring his situation after a tricky start to the season under Ronald Koeman. But while there are question marks over his long-term plans, the 23-year-old will be as fired up as anyone for Monday's Merseyside derby.

Barkley was born in Liverpool and joined Everton's youth ranks as an 11-year-old. He has been accused of lacking consistency by his new manager this season, but he heads into Monday's game on the back of an impressive return to form in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Arsenal at Goodison Park. Everton will be hoping for more of the same against their local rivals.

Tom Davies

Local lad Davies has not made the cut for Everton's most recent matchday squads but he'll be desperate for another chance on Monday night. The 18-year-old made his debut under Roberto Martinez last season, and he has made three substitute appearances since Koeman's appointment.

The midfielder is highy-rated by the Toffees and signed a new long-term contract in August. This Merseyside derby may come too soon for him, but he is one to watch out for and he's likely to get his chance sooner or later.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold grew up a stone's throw from Liverpool's Melwood training ground and joined the club's academy at the age of six after turning down the chance to join Everton. The teenage full-back captained his boyhood club at youth levels, and he is now a regular fixture in Klopp's first-team squad.

He earned widespread praise for his performances in Liverpool's recent EFL Cup wins over Tottenham and Leeds, and he was handed his Premier League debut as a late substitute in their 3-0 win over Middlesbrough. It would be fitting if his next appearance came against the club he rejected as a youngster.
