Former Leyton Orient, Cardiff and Charlton manager Russell Slade has been confirmed as Coventry's new boss

Coventry City have appointed Russell Slade as their new manager on a deal until the end of the season.

The former Cardiff and Leyton Orient boss had been involved in advanced negotiations with Sky Blues chairman Tim Fisher and a deal has now been reached for Slade to take over at the Sky Bet League One club.

The 56-year-old will take charge of the side for the first time away at Bristol Rovers on Boxing Day. Coventry are 23rd in the table with 19 points from 22 games.

"We are delighted to welcome Russell Slade to Coventry City as the club's new manager," technical director Mark Venus told the club's official website.
