Brentford have held talks with Norwich about the permanent signing of Sergi Canos, Sky sources understand.
The Bees need a winger after on-loan Sullay Kaikai returned to Crystal Palace - and Canos is their first choice.
Canos scored seven goals and played 39 times for Brentford on loan from Liverpool last season.
Brentford wanted to sign Canos permanently in the summer but he joined Norwich in a £2.5m deal instead.
Canos has failed to break into Alex Neil's first team, making just one Sky Bet Championship start and three league appearances overall.
Brentford could be set for a busy January transfer window with Sky sources reporting the club have already made an offer for Coventry City midfielder Ben Stevenson.
Sky Sports News HQ also understands Scott Hogan - valued at £15m by the club - is attracting the interest of Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
The 24-year-old striker has scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for the Bees and is also reportedly being monitored by Premier League clubs.
