Here are the nominees for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award

Tom Barkhuizen (PRESTON NORTH END 3-0 Reading - March 11)

Barkhuizen scored his first Preston goal in style as he finished off a fluent move by sweeping a shot in from the edge of the area.

Marvin Emnes (BLACKBURN 1-0 Wigan Athletic - March 4)

A sublime individual effort from Emnes that showcased his instant control and ability to dribble at speed, jink inside two defenders and fire a low shot inside the near post.

Also See:

Joe Newell (Queens Park Rangers 1-5 ROTHERHAM - March 18)

Seizing on Danny Ward's knockdown, Newell didn't hesitate as he caught a left-foot half-volley from 30 yards so sweetly, it was still rising as it struck the back of the net.

Chris Maguire (OXFORD UNITED 2-4 Bolton - March 21)

Central to the goal, Maguire curled home a free-kick so perfectly into the space where crossbar and post meet that Bolton keeper Ben Alnwick didn't even move.

Daniel Lafferty (Rochdale 3-3 SHEFFIELD UNITED - March 4)

Lafferty watched the ball drop to him 35 yards out following a corner and struck it unerringly into the bottom corner with the outside of his left boot. Unstoppable.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (ROCHDALE 4-1 Gillingham - March 18)

Neat awareness from Mendez-Laing to skip inside a defender was followed by a fiercely-struck angled left-foot shot that flew past Gillingham keeper Stuart Nelson.

League Two

Here are the nominees for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month award

Simeon Akinola (BARNET 2-2 Crawley Town - March 11)

What made his spectacularly executed overhead-kick extra special was the manner in which Akinola read a Jamal Campbell-Ryce cross that was drifting away from him.

Matt Butcher (Morecambe 1-3 YEOVIL TOWN - March 11)

Defender Butcher adjusted his body to face goalwards as a clearance dropped out of the sky and then caught it perfectly to send a 25-yard volley looping into the net.

Graham Carey (PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 1-0 Morecambe - March 18)

As the ball was tapped sideways to him, Carey already knew that he wanted to stop it, then curl it effortlessly over Morecambe keeper Barry Roche into the far corner.

The shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports' EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet sponsorship manager David Tweed and EFL head of marketing communications Andy Dodd.
