Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Bournemouth on a free transfer this summer, according to Sky sources.
The England striker's Sunderland contract includes a clause allowing him to leave for nothing in the wake of the club's relegation from the Premier League.
Sky Sports News HQ understands Defoe has agreed a three-year deal, worth £65,000-a-week, and will undergo a medical ahead of his return to Bournemouth, where he spent a successful six months on loan early in his career.
Defoe's 18 league goals for the Cherries included 12 scored in 10 consecutive games, a run which at the time was as good as any post-war streak in English football.
The 34-year-old scored 34 goals in 82 league starts after joining Sunderland from MLS side Toronto in January 2015.
His departure comes a day after David Moyes' resignation as manager on the back of a season which saw Sunderland finish bottom having won just six games.
