Departing Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic provides a sneak peak of the statue being made in his honour

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says "the symbol of Sweden" is almost done after teasing a clip of the statue set to honour him.

Eyebrows were raised when Cristiano Ronaldo's statue was unveiled outside an airport in his home city named after him earlier this year, with a debatable likeness to the image-conscious Real Madrid forward.

Heads are turning for Ibrahimovic's own model effigy, too, but this time it is the Swede's own sculpture which is revolving round in a new video the departing Manchester United striker has posted.

The 35-year-old will be officially leaving Old Trafford at the end of this month after his contract was not renewed at the club, with Ibrahimovic having missed the tail-end of the season - including the Europa League final win in his home country - due to injury.

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player is in no danger of being forgotten in Sweden, though, judging on his latest update on the statue to be raised outside the Friends Arena in Stockholm - where United were victorious just a month ago.
