Birmingham City remain in talks over a club-record deal for Ghana international Afriyie Acquah, according to Sky sources.
Torino's president and coach do not want to sell the midfielder, despite Acquah having expressed his interest in a move to St Andrew's, but Harry Redknapp remains hopeful a deal will be done before Deadline Day ends.
Acquah respects Torino's stance and will not try to force through a move, but negotiations are ongoing.
The Birmingham boss was able to bring in loan recruits in the form of Arsenal pair Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall, as well as Southampton's Sam Gallagher, but Blues still slumped to their third defeat in five Championship games with a 2-0 home loss to Reading on Saturday.
Jenkinson's debut lasted less than 40 minutes, though, with Redknapp confirming the full-back dislocated his shoulder.
