Claude Puel says Manchester City are the best side in Europe, but that Leicester can beat them in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday

Claude Puel has hailed Manchester City as the best team in Europe, but believes his Leicester side have a good opportunity to beat them on Tuesday.

Leicester host the runaway Premier League leaders in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, live on Sky Sports Football, and Pep Guardiola's side arrive with a 34-match unbeaten run in domestic competitions to protect.

Manchester City have also won 17 of their 18 league matches this season, but Puel believes the Foxes have a chance of reaching the last four and he reckons their fans could make the difference.

He said: "We play a fantastic team, for me the top team in Europe. You know the difficulty to beat this team. All the teams try but without the good result at the end.

"I think it's a good opportunity, a strong challenge for us to try to beat them. It's a special and unique game because it's a quarter-final.

"I think with the support of our fans we can make a fortress of the King Power Stadium."

Leicester play Manchester United in the league on Saturday, just four days after playing City, and while Puel insists he is not prioritising any competition, he concedes he will have to rotate his team to cope with the workload.

The Foxes have no new injury concerns ahead of their first League Cup quarter-final since they won the tournament in 1999-2000, but they will be without defender Robert Huth and midfielder Matty James, who are still short of match fitness.
