The winter transfer window does not open until January 1, but clubs across Europe are busy planning and tentative negotiations will have begun in preparation.

France

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henriquez has continued his war of words with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. The La Liga champions are interested in signing Neymar and Perez even took time on the day Cristiano Ronaldo won his fifth Ballon d'Or to talk about the world's most expensive player. Henriquez had something to say on the matter: "Talking about a player from another club on the day Ronaldo wins his fifth Ballon d'Or isn't very nice for your player." (Le Parisien)

Valencia have reached an agreement to sign Arsenal transfer target Goncalo Guedes. The Paris Saint-Germain winger is on loan at the Mestalla and has really rediscovered his Benfica form. The Ligue 1 leaders need to sell players in order to meet the Financial Fair Play guidelines. (L'Equipe)

Paris Saint-Germain want to bring Lassana Diarra to the club. The former Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid star is plying his trade in the Arabian Gulf League with Al Jazira having joined them in April. The Ligue 1 juggernauts want to bring in an experienced midfielder and feel as though the French international fits the bill. (Paris United)

Spain

Atletico Madrid have reported Barcelona to FIFA for their pursuit of Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann. Those at the Wanda Metropolitano believe the La Liga leaders are trying to destabilise their challenge, with Atletico sitting just six points behind Barcelona. The French forward only signed a new deal with the club in the summer to extend his stay until 2022 unless his release clause is paid in full. (Marca)

Germany

Schalke are up to second in the Bundesliga, two points clear of third placed RB Leipzig, and are also into the DFB Cup quarter-finals after a 1-0 win over Koln. Everything is looking up under new manager Domenico Tedesco once again. The Italian was appointed in the summer on an initial two-year deal but it's been revealed that his contract with the club will be extended to 2021 if he gets the club back into the Champions League. VfB Stuttgart are looking to bring in Monaco attacker Guido Carrillo during the winter window as they look to bolster their options going forward in an attempt to steer clear of a relegation battle. (Kicker)

Italy

Inter Milan, who suffered their first loss of the season last weekend, are looking to tie down star players Mauro Icardi and Milan Skriniar. The latter only joined the club in the summer but his form is already making him a Barcelona transfer target. The Catalans are in the market for defensive upgrades and the former Sampdoria player would be ideal.

The Italian club want to extend his stay at the San Siro until 2023 and are prepared to give him a hefty pay rise. Icardi has caught the eye of Real Madrid and Inter are determined to have their Argentine hitman sign a new deal with the club which sees his release clause rise to €130million. If he does leave then they're well compensated for it. (Gazzetta dello Sport)
