England to play Switzerland and USA as part of autumn schedule

England will play home games against Switzerland and the United States having finalised their 2018 autumn schedule.

The matches will complement the new UEFA Nations League programme with Gareth Southgate's team facing home and away dates with Croatia and Spain in the inaugural national-team competition.

Switzerland will visit on Tuesday, September 11, with the venue yet to be decided, while the United States fixture on Thursday, November 15 will take place at Wembley Stadium.

The Swiss have been regular visitors with the most recent trip being during Euro 2016 qualifying in September 2015 when goals from Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney secured a 2-0 win.

England last played the US in England in May 2008 when John Terry and Steven Gerrard scored in a 2-0 home victory.

Following the summer's World Cup, the Nations League programme gets underway on Saturday, September 8, with Spain heading to Wembley.

Southgate's side then travels to Croatia on Friday, October 12 before the return trip to Spain on Monday, October 15.
