Swansea City have parted company with manager Carlos Carvalhal following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Portuguese, who was hired in December, becomes the Swans' fifth managerial casualty in two-and-a-half years since the sacking of Garry Monk.
Carvalhal replaced Paul Clement on a deal until the end of the season and saw an initial upturn in results, but he was ultimately unable to save the Swans after a pivotal home defeat to Southampton in their penultimate game.
They then lost at home to already-relegated Stoke on the final day to confirm their plight and the Welsh club have decided to start again this summer as they plan their return from the Championship.
Carvalhal told Sky Sports News on Monday that he would resist offers from abroad in order to continue his managerial career in the English leagues having already fielded interest in his services from English as well as foreign sides.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We'd like to put on record our thanks to Carlos for his enthusiasm, hard work and commitment since arriving at the club in December.
"Naturally, we are all disappointed with the club's relegation from the Premier League, and following discussions with Carlos, we felt it was in the best interests of both parties that we move in a new direction.
"We will now be looking to appoint a new manager in readiness for the 2018-19 season.
"While there are already rumours linking us with several managers, it is vital that we identify the right person to take this team forward."
