Huddersfield Town have agreed to sign Juninho Bacuna from FC Groningen for an undisclosed fee.
The Dutch midfielder will sign a three-year deal that will run up until the summer of 2021, with the Terriers having the option for a further season.
Bacuna, 20, has represented the Netherlands at U21 level and Huddersfield head coach David Wagner is excited about working with him next season.
"I'm delighted that we've been able to bring Juninho in, especially before we report back as it allows him to have a full pre-season with the team," Wagner said.
"He's a young, hungry player that has already played a lot of football for someone of his age and even if he's still very young, he strengthens our options in this position after we lost Dean Whitehead to retirement at the end of last season.
"He's an exciting midfielder that offers all the aggression of a defensive midfielder and the technical skills and mobility of an offensive midfielder.
"We will give him all the support he needs to make the best out of the potential he definitely has."
Bacuna, who is the brother of Reading midfielder Leandro Bacuna, came through the youth ranks at FC Groningen, where he has made 83 appearances since making his debut at the age of 17.
He scored three goals and added five assists for FC Groningen last season.
Bacuna scored a brace for the Dutch U21s in a 4-1 win against Bolivia in an international friendly last month.
